Fix'n the busted volume button on my Sansa Clip
After several years of use, my little Sansa Clip volume button stopped working, and as suspected it had broken off. It was a simple fix, but I took some pics in the unlikely event somebody else needs to do a similar repair. The case is snapped together and I worked it apart with a knife starting from the bottom. The only gotcha was putting all back together, the board needs to snap into a small clip molded to the front of the case (outlines in pink in one of the pics below). If this the board is not seated the menu button will not work.
Other things that I should add are that flux is key in something like this, but I used alcohol to remove the left over gunk. Also I used tape to hold the buttons in place while putting the case together (otherwise the buttons will fly/fall out). I used a fine tip iron and all it took was a tap on each side, while holding the switch down with the tweezers. And yes, this is a 2GB Sansa, which is about all I need - the sound is good enough for me :D
This little Sansa lives to play another day!
