Pimp your (dog's) ride pt 3, Trailer Hitch Upgrade

The cheap POS trailer I have is actually the best one for my dog.  I tried several others which were more expensive, but were too small.  Unfortunately there were two problems with the trailer I ended up with:

F
irst it stank like a Harbor Freight tire (which was cleared after multiple washings with baking soda and vinegar, and setting outside for 2 weeks).

Second, the hitch is junk.  It caused the trailer to tip back and forth when my dog was inside.  The fix was to swap the hitch with a much better design.

Burley Design Flex Connector for Round Tow Arm

Burley Design Forged Standard Trailer Hitch
(I think this is discontinued but there is a newer version available which looks like it will work).

After removing the old hitch I had to drill a hole closer to the end for the new Burley Flex connector, but after that it was just assembly.  I doubt Burley would condone what I did since I don't have one of their trailers, but they make a great hitch and this upgrade works great.  The trailer does not tilt back and forth anymore, it just stays level, and I can set my bike down really easily.  The mutt seems more comfortable too.  This is an at your own risk project if you attempt it, none of this is sanctioned.
