Fixing a leak in an A & A Manufacturing top feed valve (update - temporary fix only)
Update - this fix did not last, it leaked after several months of running. I suspect that the JB Weld may not have been the best choice and I should have used something harder. I think I should have also only added the fiberglass on the outside since I would not want that wearing into the pool water (though when it failed again, that did not appear to have happened). Additionally I would have made the V grooves deeper on both sides, so they would meet in the middle if I tried this again. In the end we swapped the cover with a new one.

My dad spent over $100 on a new cover due to a hairline crack that was spraying out water. This fix cost about $8 for the JB MarineWeld, and a couple scraps of fiberglass. The fix was simple, just had to dremmel out a v(ish) shaped groove, drill a couple small holes at each end of the crack and then cover everything with JB Weld and some fiberglass (2 coats of JB Weld 6 hours apart). Below are some pics.
